Tell us about you!

Hello everyone, my name is Candice Renee. I am the Owner/ Master Hairstylist at The Hair Odyssey Salon. Originally from St. Louis, I relocated with my family to Houston, Texas in 2017. I have a beautiful 16 year old daughter, named TaSharri. Since coming to Houston, I have manage to build an outstanding clientele, and watch my dreams for my salon come true. In this past 5 years, I went from having 0 clients to being booked for the month. My mission for my salon is “to help create confidence, through the art of hair.” I am very passionate about my gift and I care about the impact I have on my family, friends, clients and supporters, especially when it comes to believing in yourself and working your way to success.

When did you start your business? 

I started my business in April of 2020. Right as covid began, we were shut down in Houston for about a month and a half. It was like from the day my booking site became available for the salon, clients were booking the appointments up by the month. My business exploded!!

Why did you start your business? 

I have always wanted my own salon and what a better way to upscale your clients salon experience than an exclusive private setting. I like the intimacy with just myself and my clients.

How does your business impact women? 

My business is all about helping women be bold, confident and courageous. My salon is targeted towards women interested in a short haircuts. Let me tell you, when my clients get their hair done, they have a new attitude! My salon provides services to all genres of women, so everyone feels comfortable with coming back to a professional hairstylist.

What does self-care mean to you? What's your routine?

I absolutely love self-care, because it allows you to relax and do the things that make you happy and feel good about yourself. I go to the nail salon every 2 weeks. I love retail therapy and getting massages. I enjoy just simply indulging in a nice bubble bath, playing good r&b soul music with my candle The Odyssey burning of course.

What do you hope people will experience when they light the CRxTR candle? 

I want them to experience the aroma of a beautiful sunny island day. Taking them to a beach with blue skies and white sand. I want them to experience paradise. I think the candle does that for sure.

What's your BIG Goal? 

My BIG goal is to be a multi million dollar salon and salon suite chain. I want my salon to be very luxurious but chic. A second goal, is to be a hairstylist for TV shows, movies, red carpets, galas, fashion shows and platform artists. For the candle line I look forward to creating more of in the future, I would love for the brand to be featured and supported by companys like Sephora or Ulta Beauty.
